Joan Gelfand's poetry and short stories have appeared in numerous national literary journals. In 2005, she received the Chaffin Fiction Award.

Joan currently serves as President of the Women’s National Book Association. In 2000, she founded Salon CIEL, an interdisciplinary group of artists working in the Bay Area. Joan earned an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Mills College in Oakland, California. SUBMISSION STRATEGIES COACHING CLASS Would you like to polish a piece of writing for submission? Have you previously published your work? Would you like to develop a strategy for success? Joan does individual coaching with writers interested in developing work for submission. This five part class will: • Explore publishing resources including print, submissions lists and web sites. • Provide a supportive atmosphere. • Inspire you and keep your motivation going! • Provide contacts, networking groups and exclusive opportunities.
